ABOUT ME

I work in oils and pastels. My style is figurative: landscape and seascape knife paintings in oils, and animal and people portraits in pastel pencils. My influences are artists such as Russian painter Ivan Shishkin and the French Impressionists and post-Impressionists. I love to produce images where there is strong light and shade, and take liberties with the original to add my artistic interpretation. I am self-taught, having dabbled when in my twenties, but started making serious efforts to improve my techniques and style when I retired.
